If you have a blog or website that you want to move, you can follow the same process to do so without any downtime for your visitors.

For the past couple of years, my Joomla!-based engineering website GreatEngineering.net has been hosted at SiteGround. Since creating it I’ve built 3 other websites, all hosted on IX Web Hosting because they have the best deal on multiple site hosting I could find. I use IX Web Hosting to host these sites on shared IP addresses, and Go Daddy for the domain registrations. This is the most cost-effective solution for hosting multiple sites that I’ve come across.

Since my hosting account at SiteGround was due for renewal, I decided to migrate the site to IX Web Hosting. This saved me the cost of renewing on SiteGround,… Continue reading…

How to Migrate a Website to a New Hosting Service Without any Downtime is a post from: Graham Stoney: Writer, Speaker, Communicator

Radical Honesty by Brad Blanton

<table cellpadding="0"class="amazon-product-table">

<img src="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31VGVcR9oNL._SL160_.jpg" class="amazon-image amazon-image" title="Radical Honesty by Brad Blanton" alt="31VGVcR9oNL. We often spend a great deal of our education learning how to analyse, think, solve problems, and understand how things work; but tend to downplay the importance of subjects that teach us how to communicate. The ability to communicate, inspire and influence other people is also a key leadership skill. Whether in business, relationships, or just in our personal lives, our ability to communicate our thoughts, feelings and ideas to other people is absolutely crucial to our success… and ultimately our happiness.

For the past couple of years, I’ve been improving my communication and leadership skills as a member of Chatswood Communicators Toastmasters club. I have to admit that I wasn’t really thinking of becoming a world-class communicator when I first came across Toastmasters. Those YouTube videos kept stalling, and I was building more and more websites so I wanted a faster Internet link. At the time, I was with Optus on a Telstra ADSL1 line, and Optus had just come out with their ‘yes’ Fusion ADSL2+ bundle deal. But it looked pretty expensive, I was tired of waiting on hold for Optus customer service, and they refused to waive the 24-month contract period even though I was switching from another plan and had been their customer for over 5 years. So I decided it was time to shop around.

After weeks of looking at advertisements, comparing prices, surfing the ‘net for the best deal I could find, a friend recommended… Continue reading…

Why I use Exetel for my ADSL2+ and Telephone is a post from: Graham Stoney: Writer, Speaker, Communicator

Nice Guy Syndrome

When I start hearing the same message coming at me from multiple independent sources, that usually gets my attention. This year I’ve had several sources giving me the message that women want men with backbone who they can “push up against”. They get tired and ultimately resentful of Nice Guys who always yield powerlessly to them, and everyone else.

I listened to an interview by David DeAngelo (of Double Your Dating fame) talking with Robert Glover described what is wrong with Nice Guys most succinctly by quoting a comment from his ex-wife, who said “How would I know that you could ever stand up for me, if you can’t even stand up to me?”. Robert calls it Nice Guy Syndrome, and has even written a book titled No More Mr. Nice Guy! He points out that while Nice Guys think that what they are doing… Continue reading…

Nice Guy Syndrome is a post from: Graham Stoney: Writer, Speaker, Communicator

Resolving The Money Riddle by Paul Blackburn

Paul Blackburn wanted to call his latest book How I went from Sweet FA to $10 Million a year in 18 Months, but his wife and business partner Mary felt this was an inappropriate business title and they settled on Resolving The Money Riddle instead. Mischievous as ever, Paul still managed to slip his preferred title onto the front cover as the tag line.

The theme of the book is that the most important factor in your financial success, or that of your business, is the grey matter between your ears. As in other areas of life, our mindset is everything. For Paul, running a business isn’t about the money; it’s a personal development opportunity that will push your boundaries at every turn. In other words, it’s about how you develop as a human being.

To be successful you’ll need to believe that you can do it to… Continue reading…

Resolving The Money Riddle by Paul Blackburn is a post from: Graham Stoney: Writer, Speaker, Communicator
